When a person comes into a relationship with Jesus Christ, we are to continue to grow in our
love and trust throughout our earthly lives. That growth most often happens in the context of
community with others. Therefore we have a variety of ways to connect, grow, serve and go
for Christ.
Small Groups
Need Connections?
Small groups can help!
Small Groups are smaller groups of people with the goal to grow more like Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:29, Col. 1:28). Groups interact with God’s Word and pray for one another’s needs and concerns. They develop friendships and develop a deeper sense of community.
At Hastings E Free, small groups are more than a program, they are our primary ministry to develop community.
Small groups are also encouraged to be involved in outreach or service in order to experience the bonding that takes place when we serve together. Anyone can join a small group!

Adult Bible Fellowships
Adult Bible Fellowships are mid-sized groups (15-40 people) which meet at 9:45 AM Sunday Mornings for Bible study, discussion and community.  Each group operates separately and chooses its own curriculum, which changes throughout the year.  Please contact Pastor Matt at 402.463.1441 if you have any questions.
This group focuses on a book of the Bible and walks all the way through it. Open to adults of all ages. Dennis Carlson is the teacher.
Comprised mostly of adults 60 & over, this group addresses a variety of biblical and topical studies using Lifeway’s Bible Studies for Life.  The topics change approximately monthly.  Dale Shafer is the teacher.
The Contemporary Christian Issues class offers topical discussions of contemporary issues based on a Biblical perspective, as well as studies through books of the Bible. Most in this class are 60 & over, however, it’s open to anyone. Don Nelson and Dean Hansen are the teachers.
The ConneXions class seeks to make connections with God and others. This is a great place to plug in to solid, biblical teaching and to meet other GenX families. Jason Conant is the primary teacher.
Whether you are an empty nester, a couple with older or adult children, single, or single again, this group can help you grow. Keith Van Drew is the primary teacher.
This group is comprised of busy young families! Come in, meet some other younger families and grow with us! Team taught.
We offer various elective classes throughout the year, taking biblical truth and applying it to our present lives. These are attended by people from various ABFs and those who are simply interested in the topic. Please contact the church for the present study.

  • Men’s groups
  • Ministry and Service opportunities
  • Events (archery, shooting, meat burning – aka BBQs)
